Geography
The geography of Loreto is believed to be among the most phenomenal in the world. Nestled in the Western shores of the Baja California Peninsula, Loreto touches borders with landmarks such as the Gulf of California (also known as the seismically active Sea of Cortes), the Transpeninsular Highway, and the creek Arroyo Loreto (which only flows with water in the wake of heavy rainfall). History
Loreto, Baja California Sur has a virtually infinite and rich history, some elements of which date back thousands of years. The oldest signs of historical culture in Loreto - cave paintings in amazingly good condition - were said to have been left behind by the Cochimi people and Guavcura people, who had begun living in Loreto more than ten thousand years ago. Thanks to the surge of tourists that now visit Loreto almost all year round, the market for Loreto cuisine has been opened up to new eaters and connoisseurs alike. Golf
Among the more popular developed areas in Loreto is the Campo de Golf Loreto (Loreto Golf Course in English), which could be found in Nopolo, nine kilometers south of the town proper. Fishing
Being a fishing village, Loreto is best known for activities that involve fishing – both as a recreation and as a sport.
